CMS today posted a navigational aid for innovators . . . a travel guide of sorts, designed to help drug and device developers plan journeys through Medicare's reimbursement byways.
Aficionados will be parsing phraseology in this 56-pager (labeled v. 1.0) for some time, but a first-blush reading suggests a relatively thorough rendering of the classic coverage-coding-payment trilogy, helpfully annotated to point out the CMS organizational units through which a persistent tourist will pass. Recitation of steps does not a strategy make, but the new guide seems at least to serve the GPS-like function of helping pinpoint for an innovator company the venues where its dilemmas lie.
