Aficionados of Medicare transmittals lead ravaged lives, but occasionally a few gems come along that make it all worthwhile. Here's a handful that remind us of the genre's creative possibilities:
"Medically Unlikely Edits," for example, doesn't quite say a provider's claims won't be paid, but it casts a pretty skeptical eye. In contrast, "Analysis of Systems Changes Needed to Generate Unsolicited Responses to the Veterans Administration" seems resolute in its plan for aiming a telemarketing campaign at the VA, while "Change Management Process -- Electronic Change Information Management Portal (eChimp)" carries unmistakable animal-rights implications.
Hanging by a thread is "Maintenance and Update of the Temporary Hook Created to Hold OPPS Claims that Include Certain Drug HCPCS Codes." More secure in its role as leader of the brain-teaser category is "Options for Providers/Suppliers Affected by CR 4376: Suppression of Standard Paper Remittance Advice (SPR) to Providers and Suppliers Also Receiving Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) for 45 Days or More." Similarly inscrutable is the vaguely unsettling "Correction of CROWD Form 5 Reporting for Internet Pilot Carriers."
And as for "Revised Appendix P & Appendix PP-New Tag F334" . . . well, we'll leave that for you and the NSA to work through.
